Over the last 10 years, windows software has become the standard for desktop operating systems. These systems have been introduced to create standards that reduce the time and effort to learn and use application software. During this time period, several companies have introduced Office Suites, which deliver integrated word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation and database modules, and further lessen the training requirements and enhance the functionality of office personnel. Today, accounting application developers are delivering software that integrates with these powerful desktop products.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Access Business Accounting run on a network?

Yes, Access Business Accounting works very well on a network. The Tables are attached in Access Business Accounting so you have what they call a front end and a back end. The front end is Access Business Accounting itself, which would be all the queries, forms, reports, macros and modules. The back end is another Access database file, which stores all the tables, and any data you enter into the program. The back end database then gets attached to the front end making a complete database. The benefits of doing this are fantastic. When networking you put a copy of the front end (Access Business Accounting) on each computer in the network. Then they all attach to the back end database, which is stored on the server or main computer making the network connection very efficient. This way when users enter data into Access Business Accounting it updates just the one back end file. By sharing just the back end (Tables) across the network you will get that maximum performance possible on your network. You can also make a back up of your data files much easier on attached tables because you only need to save the back end database not the whole Access Business Accounting program.

Are the tables attached in Access Business Accounting?

Yes, this allows better network performance and the ability to run multiple companies. Access Business Accounting has two buttons called New and Open on the Main Menu. The New button creates a new back end table structure and automatically attach those tables to Access Business Accounting.  Open button displays a dialog box, which allows you to open/attach previously, created back end database tables.

Is Access Business Accounting written completely in Microsoft Access?

Yes, the entire program was written in Access and only Access. Access Business Accounting is also completely written using Access Basic modules and code behind forms. The program only uses macros for the custom pull down menus, Autoexec and Autokeys. The reason we only use code and no macros is because there is no error control in macros and there is nowhere near the power in macros as there is in writing Access Basic code. Also Access Basic code executes faster in almost every situation then a macro does.

How long has Access Business Accounting existed?

Access Business Accounting is in its 6th year of existence. It started when Microsoft Access 1.0 was released. At that time the program was an order entry package that tracked customers, venders, inventory and orders. When Microsoft released Access 2.0 we then developed it into a full double entry accounting package.

How fast does Access Business Accounting run in Access?

The question is relevant mostly as it pertains to what hardware you are using. RAM is a big key to running any Windows program faster. The more RAM the faster Access Business Accounting will run. Access 97 requires  12mb just to run by itself, so 16mb will not run it very fast at all. We recommend 128mb or more and at least a Pentium to run Access Business Accounting for Access 97 and 256mb of ram if you are running Access XP.

Is there a manual or help file for Access Business Accounting?

Access Business Accounting has a detailed on line context sensitive help file that will give you help on any part of Access Business Accounting just by pressing the F1 key on any form.
